This pick tin set is an unusual release for PCAC as it's the first release to support a non cancer charity. In a recent interview with Lee, he explains the reason behind this release and how the designs came about.
"The reason I decided to go ahead with it was due to the bushfires in Australia earlier in the year. Being a big softie when it comes to animals and having so many messages on Facebook about doing something to help raise money, I couldn’t help myself from breaking the ‘Cancer related charities only’ rule." |
"I contacted my Australian buddy Scott Collins about helping me get a few bands on board and to choose what animal charities I will donate to. Scott set to work by contacting Johny Chow from Stone Sour who very quickly said yes to taking part (I was over the moon with this as I had wanted Johny involved in PCAC for a long time).
Scott then contacted Jack O’Shae from Bayside who quickly gave a thumbs up (Bayside have worked with PCAC before with their own pick). An obvious choice for me to ask to get involved was Terry Corso from Alien Ant Farm. I met Terry after a gig in Oxford UK and told him about PCAC. He gave me some picks at the time to auction off and he picked an animal cancer charity for the money to get donated to. There was no hesitation when I asked him about joining the pick set. Terry also mentioned Lee McKinney from Born of Osiris who might be interested, I made contact with Lee who was also very happy to take part."

"I wanted to get PCAC members involved so I had the idea to put two pick designs in from members of the PCAC Facebook group. I did a contest where people entered designs and the members voted for their favourite. The top 2 voted for was Janek Lueken and Marcus Nabokow. A close 3rd place was Scott Wilson (Scott designed one of the early PCAC customs so a long time supporter), I thought it would be a good idea to put his design on the front of the tin.
Terry asked his friend Jason Clay Dunn to come up with the Koala/Ant design concept who sketched his idea down which was then digitalized."

"Long time trustworthy PCAC pick designer Michael Hr Nielsen along with Fernando Menotti (First time designing anything in PCAC and was great to work with) got to work on putting the designs on the picks. I contacted Bert at InTune Guitar picks about doing the printing and as usual were amazing, Bert has been behind PCAC from day 1 helping me out whenever I need it.
