The Ergon BT PCAC Guitar Game
The game has now ended. A full list of winners can be found near the bottom of this page. Thank you to everyone who took part.
How Ergon met PCAC
Lee Hutchinson (founder of PCAC) first met Adriano Sergio back stage at Bloodstock 2016 whilst he was guitar tech for Anthrax. They talked for a long time about PCAC, why Lee started it and his thoughts for the future of PCAC.
In the Feburary of 2017, Adriano suprised Lee with a message on Facebook that read “I’m thinking of making an Ergon BT to donate to your cause”. This completely floored Lee as at that time, PCAC had only raised $28,000 so the idea of auctioning a guitar worth $8000 was mind blowing. Adriano also talked about getting various musicians to sign it which would make it a truly one of kind guitar. |
The Guitar
So much thought went in to every aspect of this guitar.
The guitar was built not only in Adriano’s workshop but in the National Theatre in Lisboa Porto during the Theatre Play events where the sounds of the build process were used as music.
The guitar will also have an ‘In Flames’ hard case so its nicely protected. |
James 'Dread' Clarke
During the process of making the guitar, James ‘Dread’ Clarke (a friend of Lee) offered to get involved to add to the winning prize. James is an artist who makes amazing pieces of art made from steel and scarred with 24 ct gold. He has made pieces for Black Stone Cherry, New Found Glory, Slayer, Megadeth, Ghost, Mike Portnoy, Ministry… the list goes on.
James has made a replica BT to live with the Guitar, great detail has gone in to complimenting the guitar shape and has been made to stand out in true Dread style with his 24 ct gold scarring. |
Signatures
The guitar has travelled throughout Europe and to NAMM in America where it has been signed on the Front & back by some huge names in Music.
The front of the guitar has been signed by… Slayer, Iron Maiden (Including Michael Kenney), Judas Priest, Mastodon, Sting, Papa Roach, Anthrax, Nuno Bettencourt, David Ellefson, Lacuna Coil, Machine Head, The Raven Age, Stone Sour, Slipknot The rear of the guitar signed by... Dozens of the best European Luthiers, Adam Pearson (Sisters of Mercy) |
The Pick
The custom Ergon/PCAC pick was printed by one of PCAC's biggest supporters, EGOpicks in Canada.
Lisa Lane, the owner of EGOpicks, designed the front of the pick using a combination of the Ergon logo, a photo of the guitar and a faded photo of Bernardo Teodoro. We wanted Bernardo represented to honour his memory. On the back, Lisa has used the design from Michael Hr Nielsen for the PCAC logo and individually numbered every single one. This is a very long process, but after talking to Lee, she wanted to make these picks unique. The numbers will be used for the game to win the prizes. Thanks to these numbers, the winner will truly be drawn at random. |
Bloodstock
Bloodstock have been very supportive of Lee and PCAC from the moment they became aware of it. They have always made themselves available for help and advice should it be needed. During the Bloodstock festival itself, they give Lee full access which in turn, allows Lee to talk to bands and crew about the work PCAC does. It's these conversations that lead to more auctions, more custom picks and more money raised.
Vicky and her brother Adam, along with Vicky's husband Alan Hungerford, are always there for Lee if he needs anything. Introductions to their friends in the business and inviting him backstage at different gigs have all been fundamental to Lee being able to source memorabilia to add to the PCAC auctions. Bloodstock has become an unofficial anniversary for PCAC. Each year, Lee sets a target to try and raise so that it can be announced during the festival. Last year, $100,000 was raised and this year Lee is targeting $150,000. The addition of the Bloodstock tickets to the Ergon guitar prize list is a truly amazing donation. It’s so fitting that Bloodstock are involved as it was at this festival that Adriano and Lee started their fund-raising partnership. |
